Use the GST calculator below to turn your cost and profit margin into a final selling price, with the GST amount and tax split worked out for you.
A GST calculator works out the tax on a sale so you do not have to do it by hand. Give it a price and a rate, and it returns three numbers: the taxable value, the GST, and the total.
For a retailer, that matters at two moments: when you are setting a selling price and need to know what the customer will actually pay; and when you are working backwards from a listing price to find the taxable value your invoice and GSTR-1 filing require.
Not sure which rate applies?
Pick your GST rate. Select your product's slab, or use the rate finder if you are unsure.
Enter your product cost before GST. Leave out shipping and platform fees unless you want them priced into the final number.
Add your markup. The percentage you want on top of your cost.
Set the sale type. Same state gives CGST and SGST; different state gives IGST.
Choose include or exclude GST. Exclude to build a price up from cost, include to pull tax out of a listed price.
Calculate. Taxable value, GST, tax split and final price appear together.
Your rate is decided by what you sell, not by what you choose. GST 2.0 runs on four slabs, 0%, 5%, 18% and 40%. Here is where common goods land.
| Product Category | Rate |
|---|---|
| Fresh produce, unbranded grains and staples | 0% |
| Gold and silver jewellery | 3% |
| Packaged and branded food, tea, coffee, edible oil, spices | 5% |
| Soap, shampoo, toothpaste | 5% |
| Most medicines and medical devices | 5% |
| Apparel and footwear up to ₹2,500 per piece | 5% |
| Apparel and footwear above ₹2,500 per piece | 18% |
| Mobile phones, consumer electronics, appliances | 18% |
| Stationery, hardware, household plastic and steel articles | 18% |
| Aerated drinks, tobacco, pan masala | 40% |

The formula above gives you the tax on a clean sale. Online orders are rarely that clean. Here is the same ₹1,475 order, tracked all the way to what actually stays with you.
Cost ₹1,000 with a 25% markup, 18% GST, a 2% COD fee, and an 18% RTO rate at ₹80 of reverse logistics per return. Your own fee and RTO rates will move this figure.
Most sellers look up the turnover threshold first. For an online brand, two rules usually decide the answer before turnover ever comes into it.

The ₹225 in the calculator is what you collect, not what you pay. The GST sitting inside your own bills comes back to you first.
For a brand spending heavily on performance marketing, unclaimed credit on ad spend is one of the quieter places margin leaks.
GST treatment around returns, credit notes and multi warehouse invoicing carries genuine ambiguity and state level variation, and rates are revised periodically.
