The Story Behind Otipy

Fruits and vegetables are perishable in nature where the produce degrades every hour. Most supply chains (including offline or eCommerce) involve produce waiting on shelves until an order comes or a consumer comes to pick it up. In such a scenario – freshness goes down along with loss of nutritional values and ultimately causing food wastage.

Otipy solves this problem via its artificial intelligence-enabled prediction model. Here, farmers are notified of the demand 48 hours in advance. The same prediction also enables consumers to place orders on the app while the produce is still lying at the farms. Post harvest, as soon as the produce reaches Otipy’s warehouses, using its proprietary warehousing system, Otipy then quickly packs and dispatch the orders in just about 4 to 6 hours. Through this, it ensures that fresh fruits and vegetables reach consumers early in the morning.

Such a fast supply chain also enables Otipy to reduce wastage in the supply chain by 10X – from 40% to just 4%.

Otipy offers subscription option to its customers. Through this, customers can conveniently subscribe for fruits, vegetables and other groceries which they need on a regular basis.

Otipy’s Growth Trajectory – Going From Zero To One

Since its inception, Otipy has grown its business at a tremendous pace. At present, it serves 10 lakhs+ consumers with fresh produce at their doorstep across many parts of the northern and western belt of the country.

It has more than 100,000 daily active users with more than 1.5 million app downloads across Android Google Play and Apple App store.

Otipy closely works with 800+ resellers (primarily women) across the Delhi-NCR and Mumbai region to ensure freshness and on-time delivery across all its serviceable pin codes.

Besides fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy products, consumers can also buy a variety of FMCG and grocery items via Otipy’s app. The platform has strong tie-ups with many renowned brands.

The Challenge Of Online Selling

The platform has streamlined most of its business operations – from logistics to on-time delivery and developing a user-friendly app. However, ensuring successful order placement is where the brand faces much challenge.

Despite partnering with multiple payment partners, Otipy was witnessing transaction failures, especially at the UPI level which made up for 80% of its total daily transactions. Because of this issue, Otipy was also losing out on potential revenue.

Otipy Partners with GoKwik

In a quest to solve this issue, Otipy partnered with GoKwik.

An eCommerce enablement company, GoKwik offers a variety of solutions that help eCommerce brands streamline their checkout and payment processes. It ensures successful order placements within seconds.

Carefully examining Otipy’s payment infrastructure, GoKwik saw that there was an opportunity to help the platform improve its existing UPI infrastructure and provide access to seamless payments.

GoKwik then embedded its Payment Stack on Otipy’s platform. Post implementation, the platform saw a rise in successful UPI transactions and better user experience. It started clocking more orders per day and witnessed an uptick in its revenue rate as well.

At present, 70% of Otipy’s total transactions are routed via GoKwik’s Payment Stack giving the company the peace of mind it longed for.

The Future Perspective

At present, Otipy is recording an annualized run rate of Rs 250 crores. This is a testament to the fact that Indian consumers are relishing Otipy’s services and trusting the brand to deliver fresh produce to their doorsteps daily. With an aim to serve the entire nation across all pin codes, Otipy is bound to become a household name in the years to come.
